How this estimate works

This tool is a planning estimate built on the IICRC S540 trauma and crime scene method, with respiratory protection under OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 and exposure control under 29 CFR 1910.1030. Incident type drives chemistry, contamination depth drives absorbents and sealing, and occupancy branches the odor equipment. A single gross-contamination trigger raises the coverall, glove, respirator, and decontamination lines together. Stampede is a distributor, not a restoration contractor. The restoration contractor makes the final determination.

Two limits this tool will not paper over. Regulated medical waste, sharps and red-bag, is not a Stampede line and is not sized here; it must be packaged and transported by a licensed medical-waste hauler. And OSHA 1910.1030 compliance requires a written exposure control plan, an offered hepatitis B vaccination, and documented training. Buying the right PPE does not by itself make an employer compliant.

Biohazard & Trauma

Every recommendation is an in-stock Stampede unit. No prices shown, request a quote and a rep confirms availability and pricing.

Area 1

Unattended death, hoarding, or contamination absorbed into porous materials raises the plan to the gross-contamination PPE tier: barrier suit, 11-mil nitrile, full-face respiratory protection, and on-site decontamination.

Enter the work area dimensions and the contaminated area to size the biohazard plan.

The Method

From scene assessment to verification

The calculator sizes the equipment. Here is the full S540 workflow it feeds, from containment and PPE through disinfection, decontamination, and verification of cleanliness.

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 and IICRC S540 biohazard and trauma cleanup method: technicians in full PPE working inside a containment with HEPA vacuuming, surface swab verification, decontamination grid, and secured biohazard waste handling.
This diagram shows the complete S540 workflow, including waste-handling steps such as sharps containment and regulated-waste packaging that Stampede does not supply. The calculator sizes only the equipment Stampede stocks; waste packaging and transport belong to a licensed medical-waste hauler.
